To renew your license for the 2025-2026 biennium, you are required to provide proof of 30 hours of continuing education credits, as follows:
- Fifteen (15) hours of live or face-to-face instruction. Live credits include online programs in which real-time interaction with the instructor(s) is possible. The other fifteen (15) credits may be obtained from distance education / home-study / asynchronous learning programs.
- Six (6) hours of scientific and
professional ethics and standards, and common areas of professional
misconduct.
- Two (2) hours of evidence-based suicide prevention and awareness.
- Six (6) hours related to cultural competency and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- This requirement was put in place as a 2 hour requirement during the 2021 Legislative
session and was increased to 6 hours during the 2023 Legislative session.
- Courses in cultural competency and diversity, equity, and inclusion must address persons of different cultural backgrounds, including, but not limited to, the following categories:
- Persons from various gender, racial and ethnic
backgrounds;
- Persons from various religious backgrounds;
- Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning persons
- Children and senior citizens
- Veterans;
- Persons with a mental illness;
- Persons with an intellectual disability,
developmental disability, or physical disability; and
- Persons who are part of any other population that the holder of a license may need to better understand, as determined by the Board.
Continuing education requirements and courses the Board accepts are stated in NAC 641.136.
NO MORE THAN 15 HOME STUDY CREDITS WILL BE APPLIED TOWARD THE CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
